Steroids Thailand – A Disturbing Story

Steroids Thailand is a fascinating story that delves into the country’s role in the global steroid trade. Despite having strict laws to govern pharmaceutical production, Thailand has become a centre for clandestine labs that manufacture illegal steroids and export them globally. The article also looks at the role of international criminal networks that exploit the country’s porous borders and bustling trade environment to import and traffic steroids.

A Brisbane bodybuilder has given a disturbing insight into how easy it is to acquire performance-enhancing drugs in Thailand, where they are sold at a fraction of their Australian black market price. Jarrad Fisher, 21, weighed just 70 kilograms as an amateur when he travelled to Pattaya last year in search of supplements that would help him push his physique to the next level. He spent a mere 4,040 baht to purchase a full set of pills, ampoules and injectable steroids at a pharmacy on Soi 7. These are classified as anabolic-androgenic steroids that increase muscle mass by mimicking the natural male sex hormone testosterone. Often they are combined with other muscle-building and sometimes weight-loss medicines, in a practice known as’stacking’.

However, they are also dangerous when used incorrectly, with many serious side effects – including infertility in men and breast growth in girls. And the effects are not always reversible. The US Food and Drug Administration warns that drugs that mimic testosterone can cause a host of problems, including high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart and liver damage, as well as hair loss, shrinkage of the testes, breast development in boys and impotence.
